Pressing the START button

Well, I have started a Blog!

This is my first ever Blog entry and I am really excited to start this Blog. I have been thinking of doing this for a while and today I have finally decided to ‘bite the bullet’, take the first step and write my first Blog entry. So here it goes…..

For this first Blog it makes sense for me to write about why I have decided to start one and perhaps explain the title I have chosen.

..In Step.

Well, firstly, I have used the words ‘In step’ because I love order and sequence. I am a bit OCD in nature. I am a chronic list writer and love to organise things and make things neat. I am a teacher, I like to teach, I taught as an early childhood teacher for 7 years before becoming a stay at home mum, which is my current primary past time.

On this blog you will be sure to come across a few ‘how to’ pages with step by step instructions and lots of ideas to inspire and empower you (hopefully).

Here are the different areas I plan to write about and why.

In Step…. with my husband.

I have now been married to my husband, ‘Tech Man’ for TEN YEARS! Wow, I can’t believe we have come this far. There were times I didn’t think we would make it but by God’s grace we did and I am so thankful. Learning how to be a wife, walking through life in hand with my husband has been challenging at times and I am learning more each day. I will share some things with you that I wish, looking back, that someone told me. Marriage is a tough gig and many ‘throw in the towel’ these days. I feel like my hubby and I have made a lot of ground in ten years which I hope to share so that hopefully some of my mistakes and triumphs can help someone else.

In Step…. with my children

Every mum goes on a steep learning curve of how to be a great mum when their first child arrives. Now I am facing new challenges that come with two little ones to look after, ‘My Little Scientist’ (5 year old boy) and ‘My Little China Doll’ (1 year old girl). As they grow older there is a new hurdle to face and overcome from toilet training, to sleeping habits and discipline. I will share some handy tips I have found that worked for me and my family with you and share some stories of our crazy life at home.

In step…. with my creativity

I love to make and design things. It’s probably how I ‘relax’. I especially enjoy thinking about how to make things that are useful, practical and work well for me…. and with the added bonus of (hopefully) looking half decent too. I like to create in all sorts of ways

  • Scrapbooking
  • craft
  • make yummy desserts,
  • design things on the computer,
  • build stuff with wood …and of course…
  • make things with my children.

I am a big kid at heart and like to get amongst it and give new things a try. You will read about plenty of DIY projects and up-cycling here.

In Step…. with my heavenly father

I am a Christian.

I have been since I was 8 years old. But my faith has certainly been a journey of growth and challenge over the years. I hope to share with you some of my journey with God on this Blog. Hopefully it will inspire and encourage you in your own personal journey of faith too. God has helped me in so many ways in my life, and I feel it is time to share my story and ‘shout from the rooftops’ the goodness he has done in my life.

In step….. with who I am

In this section I will write about my journey of doing things FOR ME. Whether that be to get fit, be healthy, get organised or relax and spend some ‘me’ time. It’s important for all of us to take responsibility for who we are and where we are headed and this will be a space where I reflect on some of these things.

My prayer is that this blog will challenge and inspire readers to take whatever initial steps are needed to do something new, positive and fun in your life. ….and I would certainly love to hear about them too! So please feel free to make comments or email me.
